The people behind the place
About Rubaroo
Rubaroo means "face to face" in Urdu. That's what we built this place for — real encounters with nature, with yourself, and with the people around you.

"Face to face. That's what Rubaroo means. And what it does."
Our Story
How three friends built a place they'd want to visit.
Nikhil, Sanjay, and Sanket came together with a shared obsession: the idea that travel should feel like something real. Not a resort checklist, not a hotel corridor, not someone else's version of your holiday. Something that actually changes you.
They found Marutan Village — 2 km ahead of Jibhi on the Hirab-Sajwar road, in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh — and saw what it could be. A place that was already extraordinary. They just had to not get in its way.
They named it Rubaroo — Urdu for "face to face." Face to face with the mountains. With yourself. With strangers who become friends around a bonfire. With the specific silence that only happens when you're far enough from the city that you can finally hear yourself think.
That's the only philosophy Rubaroo has ever had. Slow living, genuine connection, and a kitchen that actually cares. Digital detox isn't a feature — it's just what happens when the mountains are this good.
The Founders
The people who built this.

Nikhil
Property & Experiences Lead
Nikhil knows Jibhi and the Tirthan Valley the way most people know their own streets. He's the one who finds the trails no one else takes and makes sure every guest leaves having seen something real.

Sanjay
Operations Lead
Sanjay is the engine that keeps Rubaroo running smoothly — from the kitchen to the bookings. If something works effortlessly at Rubaroo, there's a good chance Sanjay spent three hours making sure it would.

Sanket
Technology & Product Lead
Sanket is the one who built the digital side of Rubaroo — and then left his phone on silent the moment he arrived at the property. He believes the best tech is the kind that disappears.
What We Believe In
Three pillars. One place.
Nature
Not as a backdrop. As a participant. The mountains, the forest, the stream — they are as much a part of the experience as the food or the room.
Self
Space to be quiet. To slow down. To remember what you actually think about things when the noise of the city goes away.
Community
Real connection with the people around you — guests, founders, the team, and the village. Rubaroo means face to face. That's not just the name. It's the intention.

Your questions.
Their answers.
Written in their own words — the same way they'd answer on a WhatsApp call.
We love dogs. Bring them. Just let us know in advance so we can make sure they're comfortable too.
Absolutely. Kids love it here — open spaces, no traffic, games in the rec room. The mountains do the rest.
About 2 km ahead of Jibhi on the Hirab-Sajwar road. Close enough to explore, far enough to feel like you've escaped.
There is. But honestly, most guests forget to use it after the first evening.
It's one of our favourite things to host. Just tell us in advance and we'll make sure it's a moment worth remembering.
Every season has its own magic. Snow in winter, green valleys in summer, crisp air in autumn. There's no wrong answer — only which version of Rubaroo speaks to you.
Yes — walk-ins are welcome. Come for chai. Stay for the view.
Just message us on WhatsApp. We'll take it from there.
